The new Higher Education Role Analysis (HERA) pay framework designed by the Educational Competencies Consortium and Universities and Colleges Employers' Association (UCEA) is intended to bring equity to all staff but some claim that academics have benefitted most. David Whiteley, senior computer officer at Leeds University, is among those losing out as he faces a GBP 8,000 cut in his annual salary under the framework.

Advice for academics and college faculty on how to deal with and prevent plagiarism. Tips include making sure that the students know what plagiarism is and that they should not do it, concentrating on preventing plagiarism rather than detecting it and making sure that you know what sort of tricks the students are employing.
